A white bunny looking at a carrot beside an ability card for a 10 kg Bunny: a 35 second cooldown ring, the text every 35s eats a carrot for a value bonus, and a bar showing 10 of the 40 kg where the cooldown reaches its 5 second limit
Each number in the ability text comes from the pet's current weight.

This Grow a Garden pet ability calculator shows exactly what your pet's ability does at its current weight. Choose a pet and enter its weight in kilograms (kg) to see its cooldown, activation chance and effective range. You also see the weight where each ability stat reaches its maximum value.

Five steps

How do you use the Grow a Garden pet ability calculator?

You choose a pet, enter its current weight and age, and the ability text updates right away as you type. The cooldown is the waiting period between two activations, so a shorter cooldown means your pet activates more often.

  1. 1Search for your pet by name, or select it from the alphabetical list.
  2. 2Enter the exact weight displayed in the game, measured in kg.
  3. 3Enter your pet's current age, anywhere from 1 to 125.
  4. 4Activate the Grandmaster Sprinkler option if one is operating near your pet.
  5. 5Read the calculated result, then check the label next to every number.

For example, a 10 kg Bunny eats a carrot every 35 seconds and receives a value bonus each time. The table below the result displays every ability stat from age 1 to age 125. It follows the weight your pet gains as it ages, so you can plan your feeding in advance.

Passives

What is a pet's passive ability in Grow a Garden?

Two cards compared: an always-on aura for a 10 kg Capybara giving 6 XP every second, and a timer ring for a 1 kg Disco Bee with a 14m 54s cooldown and a 15% Disco chance

A pet's passive is its ability, an effect it performs automatically while it is active in your garden. You never press a button to use it, and it keeps working while your pet stays equipped.

Passive abilities come in two different types. Some effects operate continuously, and others activate on a timer described as "every" so many minutes.

For example, a 10 kg Capybara constantly gives nearby pets 6 XP (experience points) every second and stops their hunger from dropping. A 1 kg Disco Bee works on a timer instead, with a 15% chance to turn a fruit Disco every 14 minutes 54 seconds.

Some pets carry two separate passives, and each one has its own independent numbers. The Queen Bee pollinates a nearby fruit on one timer and refreshes another pet's ability on a separate timer.

Does pet age change ability strength?

Pet age only changes ability strength indirectly, because older pets are heavier. The game calculates every ability number from your pet's current weight, not directly from its age.

Disco Bee at age 1

1 kg

15% chance · every 14m 54s

Same bee at age 100

10 kg

24% chance · every 13m 6s

For example, a Disco Bee with a 1 kg starting weight reaches 10 kg at age 100. Its Disco chance rises from 15% to 24%, and its cooldown drops to 13 minutes 6 seconds.

Common claim

Some guides claim abilities stop growing at age 50, or multiply by a size class such as Godly.

In the game

Neither claim matches the in-game ability text, which changes only when the weight changes.

Our pet weight calculator shows how much weight each age adds. See what a pet this heavy is worth in a trade on the pet values page.

Cooldowns and limits

How do you calculate a pet ability cooldown?

Chart of a Praying Mantis cooldown falling one second per kg from 80s at 0 kg to 60s at 20 kg, then flattening at its 5s limit from 75 kg

You calculate a cooldown by taking the pet's starting cooldown and subtracting a fixed number of seconds for every kg it weighs. The result can never fall below a minimum, called the limit, so extra weight stops helping once the pet reaches it.

  1. Write down the pet's starting cooldown in seconds.
  2. Multiply the seconds saved per kg by your pet's current weight.
  3. Subtract that total from the starting cooldown.
  4. Compare the answer with the limit and use whichever number is higher.
For example, a Praying Mantis starts at 80 seconds and saves exactly 1 second per kg.
  • 1At 20 kg, it saves 20 seconds.
  • =Its prayer activates every 60 seconds, because 80 minus 20 equals 60.

Activation chance and range follow the same rule in reverse, increasing with weight until they hit a maximum. That is why this Grow a Garden cooldown calculator displays the exact weight where each stat stops improving. It works as a Grow a Garden pet cooldown calculator for every pet in the list.

Which pets reduce cooldowns in Grow a Garden?

A peacock feather above two timer rings: a pet's cooldown at 35% jumps by 65.6 seconds to 78%, labelled Peacock at 1 kg, every 10m, within 20.2 studs

The Peacock, Albino Peacock, Griffin and Queen Bee all reduce the cooldowns of other pets in your garden. Players call this advancing a cooldown, because the timer jumps forward and the target ability activates sooner.

Pets that advance other pets' cooldowns
PetWhat it does at 1 kgChecked
PeacockEvery 10 minutes, advances the cooldown of every active pet within 20.2 studs (Roblox distance units) by 65.6 secondsVerified
Albino PeacockWorks like the Peacock and also gives those pets XPOne source
GriffinEvery 15 minutes 33 seconds, releases a Cyclone that advances the cooldown of each pet it hits by 66 secondsVerified
Queen BeeEvery 21 minutes 52 seconds, fully refreshes the pet with the highest remaining cooldownVerified, within 4 seconds

Pairing one of these support pets with a powerful ability pet makes that ability activate more often. The Queen Bee always picks the pet with the longest wait left, which is often your slowest one.

Boosts

What boosts pet abilities in Grow a Garden?

A sprinkler above three cards: a 10 kg Squirrel with a 13% chance, plus 4 kg, treated as 14 kg with a 14.2% chance

Extra weight and pet mutations are the two primary ways to boost a pet ability in Grow a Garden. Weight is the most dependable boost, because every ability number depends on it.

The Grandmaster Sprinkler adds 4 kg to the weight the game uses for nearby pet abilities. Select the Sprinkler option in the calculator whenever your pet sits within its reach.

14.2%

Take a 10 kg Squirrel, which has a 13% chance to keep a use of the Reclaimer tool. With a Grandmaster Sprinkler active, the game treats it as 14 kg, so that chance rises to 14.2%.

Pet mutation
A pet mutation is a special trait, such as Golden or Nightmare, that a pet gains from the Pet Mutation Machine. Some mutations add a passive boost, and two independent data tables agree that Nightmare adds 22%.

Pet mutations are separate from crop mutations. To price a crop your pets have mutated, use the Grow a Garden calculator.

The calculator does not apply mutation boosts yet, not even Nightmare. We have not confirmed which ability numbers each boost changes, so we will add them after verification.

Sources and labels

How accurate are these pet ability numbers?

Every number shown carries a label, and a question mark replaces any number without a reliable source. We last checked all values on , and official game updates can alter them.

  • Verified means two independent fan-made data tables give the same starting value and the same change per kg.
  • One source means only one table lists the number so far.
  • Sources differ means the tables disagree, so the calculator displays both values until the game confirms one.

Before including any pet, we compared every table against its own ability description at 1 kg. A pet that failed this check stayed out of the calculator, even when its other numbers looked correct.

Most limits, such as the shortest possible cooldown, come from a single table. The second table ends at 46 kg, which is usually below the weight where pets reach their limit.

Some popular pets, including the Kitsune, Owl and Fennec Fox, are not available in the calculator yet. Mutation boosts are also missing until a second source confirms them.
